Hans Ulrich Bertelmann or HUB has always (started in his school years) scribbled and painted until the 60th of the last century when he discovered wood as his creative medium. Throughout his creative route he allways came in contact with this basic material wood, so be it furtniture or interior design.

As an autodidact HUB relied on the one and only taskmaster who until now guides him: the artistic mother nature. He was aware of, that for all kind of art you first have to learn the craft. So he studied on a private level historic and contemporary sculpture art; studied the human anatomy to move from the naturelistic to abstractive figures.

For HUB it is important to keep the abstraction always in a certain level, so that the visual idea is clear without any further needed stiltedness explantion. Art is an experience for the senses, touch, view and sometimes scent. Natural raw material give this experience and support to the artist and viewers emotions. Simply have a look on the sculptures.
